Patricia “Poochie” Byrd, age 58, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, friend and coworker, passed away Monday, August 17, 2026. A Celebration of Life was held Saturday, August 22, at 2 p.m. at St. Philip Baptist Church with Pastor Gary Hackett officiating.
Poochie was born June 23, 1968, to the late Lilly-Mae Silas and Bill Byrd. She had a personality that could never be forgotten. Poochie was funny, loud, carefree and unapologetically herself, and did not worry about what others thought of her. Poochie was deeply loved by her family, friends and everyone blessed enough to know her. One of her greatest joys in life was being a grandmother. Her grandchildren were truly her life, and she loved them with her whole heart. Ms. Byrd is preceded in death by her parents; and siblings, Mary Willis, Billy Silas and Roger Willis.
Ms. Byrd leaves to cherish her memories with her daughter, Shanteria Coleman (Sentrell Carey); grandchildren, Toriah Williams, King Coleman and Santana Coleman; siblings, Mary Heyward, William Heyward, Shelly Rucker and Melvin Willis; aunties, Estella, Emma and Minnie; nieces and nephews, Robert, Antiquion, Antionette (Nathaniel), Crystal, LaQuandra, Daniel, Deidre, Sapporo and Angel.
Mosley’s’ Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
