Nancy Annette Williams Flanders, age 88, entered into the presence of her Lord on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, at her beloved family farm in Summertown. Funeral Services were held October 30, at 12 p.m. at First Methodist Church of Swainsboro. Burial followed at Swainsboro City Cemetery. Visitation was held Friday, October 30, from 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. at First Methodist Church of Swainsboro.
Pallbearers were Chesley Flanders, Jr., Chance Flanders, Rett Daniel, Ross Daniel, Ben Flanders, Judson Flanders and Jackson Flanders. Honorary pallbearers were Carina Snelling, Floria Tillman, Terrell Griffin and Steven Lightkep.
Born on Christmas Day in 1937 to Ellis and Annie Williams, Nancy was born, raised, and lived her final days on the land that held a lifetime of treasured memories. Known lovingly as Mama, Grandma, Meme, Aunt Nancy and Mrs. Nancy, she held a special place in the hearts of those who called her by each of these names. Each name reflected a cherished relationship and the love that will remain part of her family’s story for generations to come.
On June 24, 1956, Nancy married James Byrd Flanders. Together, they built a family that became her greatest joy. Although she worked in a variety of clerical positions throughout her life, the work she cherished most was being a wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her most enduring legacy lives in the family she loved and the memories they will carry with them. Mrs. Flanders is preceded in death by her parents; husband; and sisters, Juanita Junkins and Grace Rountree.
Left to cherish her memories are her children, Susan Daniel (Joe) of Waynesboro, Chesley Flanders (Fay) of Summertown and Joe Flanders (Terrell) of Augusta; grandchildren, Chesley Flanders, Jr. (Monica), Chance Flanders (Tabitha), Rett Daniel (Livia) and Ross Daniel (Steven); and her great-grandchildren, Cayley Flanders, Ben Flanders, Judson Flanders, Jackson Flanders, Jency Flanders, Ryley Daniel, Reese Daniel and Raylen Curl; sister, Elease Jackson of Wrightsville; and many nieces and nephews.
As her family grieves, they find comfort in the promise of eternal life through Jesus Christ and the assurance that death does not have the final word. They give thanks to God for her 88 years of life, for the blessing of belonging to her family, and for a love that will continue to shape their lives.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Community Hospice of Vidalia for their compassionate care. They also offer special thanks to Carina Snelling and Flora Tillman, whose loving care helped Nancy remain in the home she loved.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: Swainsboro Methodist Women, First Methodist Church of Swainsboro, 319 West Main Street, Swainsboro, GA 30401.
