Sally Toler Bellamy Nicholson, age 80, passed away on Saturday, January 6, 2024, after an extended illness. Sally’s life celebration will be held Wednesday, January 10, at 2 p.m. at Morningside Baptist Church in Soperton with Pastor Vic Fordham and Reverend George Grimes officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until the hour of service.

Pallbearers are Clint Purser, Tom Phillips, Terry Phillips and Ronnie Phillips.

Sally was a lifelong resident of Treutlen and Emanuel Counties. She was a retired science educator with multiple degrees who taught students at David Emanuel Institute and Vidalia Comprehensive High School. Sally led adult Sunday School and coordinated Vacation Bible School at Morningside Baptist Church. She was known for using her intensive Bible study and artistic design to support her fellow church members. Friends remember Sally’s love for animals, especially her canine companion, Abby, and her passion for flower gardening. Sally will be missed by her many friends, family and fellow church members. Mrs. Nicholson is preceded in death by her parents, Slayton “Trooper” Toler, Sr. and Marjorie Toler; husband, Billy Nicholson; daughter, Katherine “Kitty” Bellamy; and brother, Slayton “Judgie” Toler, Jr.

Mrs. Nicholson will be particularly missed by those who have helped her over the past several years, neighbor and longtime friend, Wrella Purser; Wendell Lovett; Corine Ricks; and Sharon Henry.

Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice or Shriners Children’s Hospital, PO Box 947765, Atlanta, GA 30394, or shrinerschildrens.org/en.

Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home of Vidalia is in charge of arrangements.
