Joel Scott Reese, Sr. 62, of Hephzibah, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, December 12, 2023, at Emory Hospital after an extended illness. Funeral services were held Saturday, December 16, at 2 p.m. at Chapman Funeral Home with Pastor Shannon Boula officiating. Interment followed at Blundale Baptist Church. The family received friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, December 15, at Chapman Funeral Home.

Pallbearers were Emmett Reese, Sr., Sammie Braddy, Emmett Reese, Jr., RJ Coleman, Scotty Reese and Christopher Reese.

Joel was born on July 28, 1961, to Joe Thomas Reese and Mary Ethel Pitts. He was an avid Star Trek collector and loved driving big trucks for a living. Joel cherished his beloved grandchildren and great-grandson. He also loved to bring out the tickle monster when they came to visit. Joel was of the Baptist faith.

Mr. Reese leaves behind to cherish his memories with his father, Joe (Janice) Reese of Swainsboro; mother, Mary Ethel Hutto of Hephzibah; wife, Kim Reese of Hephzibah; son, Joel Scott Reese, Jr. of Louisville, KY; daughters, Angel (Sammie) Braddy of Swainsboro and Kelly Coleman of Dublin; brother, Emmett (Karen) Reese of Hephzibah; and sister, Merry (James) McGahagin of Gainesville; seven grandchildren; one great-grandson; and several nieces and nephews.

Chapman Funeral Home of Swainsboro was in charge of arrangements.
