Ms. Nellie Ruth Brown Walker, age 71, entered into eternal rest on Monday, October 30, 2023. A Celebration of Life was held Saturday, November 4, at 11 a.m. at Union Chapel Missionary Baptist Church with Pastor Jeremy Reid officiating and Rev. James R. Carlyle presiding. Interment was held at Swan/Clark Family Cemetery.

Nellie Ruth Brown was born November 24, 1951, in Portal, to Mrs. Amerine Brown. She attended the public school system in Emanuel County and graduated in 1969. At an early age, Nellie joined the Union Chapel Missionary Baptist Church in Garfield. She received her license to minister under the leadership of Bishop K.E. McNeal. Nellie worked at Argo Mills for many years and was a private sitter before she retired. Ms. Walker is preceded in death by her sister, Debra Brown; and brother, Lanel Brown.

Ms. Walker leaves to cherish her memories with her mother; daughter, Vanisha Reid of Twin City; son, Ra’Shard Walker of Twin City; grandchildren, Jeremy (Tierra) Reid of Gainesville Jonia Reid and Madison Walker, both of Twin City; great-grandson, Benjamin Reid and Noah Reid; five sisters; four brothers; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Mosley’s Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
