by MELISSA KIRBY, DOWNTOWN DEVELOPMENT DIRECTOR

As the children and adults lined the downtown streets of Swainsboro anticipating the start of this year’s Christmas parade, Santa arrived just in the nick of time to catch a ride on the firetruck. The sight of Santa in town brought excitement to the faces of the children as he passed by. As the parade continued through town, the children were amazed at the beautiful floats that passed by. This year’s float judges had a tough decision to make but they narrowed it down to the top three with 1st place going to Emanuel Medical Center, 2nd place to David Emanuel Academy and 3rd place to New Beginnings Worship Center. As the parade came to an end, Santa exited the firetruck behind the Chamber of Commerce to spend time with the children and hear their Christmas list. Parents were able to snap photos of their children with Santa. After visiting with Santa, the children were invited to take a ride on the Citizens Bank train. It was a magical night indeed! The Boneyard was packed with food trucks and arts and craft vendors while everyone enjoyed the live performances from Allstar Dance Academy and Dellwood Praise and Worship band.

Oh, we must not forget the true meaning of Christmas! Dellwood Baptist was there to remind us with a live nativity scene on the square.

We would like to thank everyone who played a part in this year’s festivities!
