The Veterans at the Library held their weekly meeting Monday, February 12, at the Franklin Memorial Library at 9:15 a.m. With Chair John Tapley presiding, there were 40 in attendance with one new veteran welcomed. Veteran Bobby Lamar Williams served in the U.S. Army from 1979 to 1985. He served with the 53rd Medical Battalion/197th Transporta-tion. Williams was stationed at Fort Benning and Kaiserslautern, Germany. His highest rank earned was E-4. Chairman Tapley then called on two Swainsboro City Councilmen, veteran Julian Sconyers and Johnny Ray Stafford to update what is happening in the City of Swainsboro. They discussed the new water tower, Swainsboro Golf Course, renovating Swainsboro City Hall, maintenance of the city’s parks, Sunday Alcohol sales and the police vehicles. Chair Johnny invited them back again after such an informative session.
