Mr. Steve Edward Riner, 65, of Swainsboro, passed away Monday, April 1, 2024, at Memorial Health University Medical Hospital in Savannah. Memorial service was held Thursday, April 4, at 5 p.m. in the Chapel of Chapman Funeral Home with Reverend Wes Webb officiating. The family received friends Wednesday, April 3, at 5 p.m. at Riner Pond House.

Steve was born May 12, 1958, in Savannah, to the late Lynn Riner and Bobbie Jean Kirby Riner. He loved big and lived large. If Steve liked you, he loved you. He worked in construction and worked at Twin City Quality Buildings for 22 years. Steve’s greatest joys were his grandchildren and continuing his parents’ family traditions. He loved having his family and friends that he called “adopted” family together. Steve always looked forward to Wednesday as they were family nights with his kids, grandkids, and anyone one that showed up to join the fun. His favorite trips were to Biloxi, MS for a little gambling and to Arkansas for a weeklong deer hunt with Shawn, his nephews and friends. Steve loved his fur baby, Buddy, and if you saw him, Buddy was right beside him. He was a lifelong member of Daniels Creek Hunting, where he and Mr. Larry Morrison cooked greens every year for opening day of deer season. Mr. Riner is preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Tyron Riner.

Mr. Riner is survived by his wife, Kathy M. Riner of Swainsboro; daughter, Megan Womack (Tyler) of Swainsboro; sons, Phil Riner (Chastayne Kitchens) of Statesboro, Jesse Riner (Diana) of Macon, Jeffrey Hutcheson (Erin Hall) of Statesboro and Jason Wilcher (Krissy Widner) of Midville; sister, Sandra Edenfield of Swainsboro; brothers, Gerald Riner (Terry) of Savannah, Hugh “Cooter” Riner (Stephanie) and Shawn Riner (Michelle), both of Swainsboro; special nephews, Justin Riner and Keith Riner; special aunts, Margaret Smith and Jeannette “Puff” Webb; 13 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; fur baby Buddy; several other nieces and nephews and many friends.

Chapman Funeral Home of Swainsboro was in charge of arrangements.
