Middleton receives Eloise Vining Scholarship

On Monday, May 13, Kirah N. Middleton, Swainsboro High School honor graduate, was awarded the Eloise Vining Scholarship from The Progressive Ladies club during Swainsboro High School Honors Night program and received numerous recognitions for her accomplishment. She was also awarded the Augusta University Black Scholar award and will attend Augusta University to pursue a degree in Pre-Nursing at the College of Nursing.

Presenting the Eloise Vining Scholarship award was the Progressive Ladies club Vice-President and Chairperson of the Scholarship Committee Verdell Brinson, and Committee members Yvette Mercer, Nicole Lott and Mary Parker (absent). Progressive Ladies present were Nettie Jordan, Louise Johnson, Brenda Mosley (Secretary) Sharon Boston, Middleton, Lott, Brinson and Mercer. Absent was Progressive Ladies President Ernestine Williams.

Mrs. Vining was a retired Educator of Emanuel County School, serving as president 1995-1996. She taught school for 42 years. Mrs. Vining lived to reach the age of 103. Her legacy will continue to live on through her Progressive Ladies Club which was founded by her more than 60 plus years ago.
