Jewel M. Hudson, age 92, passed away Monday, July 15, 2024. A Homecoming Celebration was held Sunday, July 21, at 2 p.m. at Jefferson Memorial Gardens in Louisville with Pastor Earl B. Williams, Jr. officiating.

Jewel was born May 14, 1932, in Brooks County, to the late Charlie B. Miller, Jr. and Hattie Brice Miller. She received her elementary and high school training in the Brooks County School system, graduating high school from Morven Rosenwald. Jewel continued her education by earning her Bachelor of Science in education from Savannah State College and furthered her studies by completing graduate work at Fort Valley State College and Georgia Southern University. Jewel retired from Jefferson County School system after completing 30 years of service in education. She joined Farris Madison Hudson in holy matrimony on July 22, 1956, and to this union, they had five children. Ms. Hudson is preceded in death by her parents; two brothers; two sisters; and in-laws.

Mrs. Hudson leaves to cherish her memories with her children, Farris (Verna) Hudson, LaZelda Williams, Farlyn Hudson, Shawana (Donovan) Lewis and Phrashunda Hudson; five grandsons; eight great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Mosley’s Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
