Wayne Sanders, Jr., age 83, passed away Friday, August 2, 2024. A Celebration of Life was held Sunday, August 11, at 2 p.m. at Phillips Chapel in Soperton with Pastor Jerry McMillen presiding. Interment followed at Boiling Springs Cemetery.

Wayne was born June 28, 1941, to Wayne ‘Bay” and Rosa Murphy Sanders. He attended school in Jefferson County. Wayne was a talented guitar player and enjoyed playing and singing gospel songs. He was a devoted husband, loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather. During his lifetime, Wayne worked a variety of jobs, always doing his best. Mr. Sanders is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Shirley Phillips; daughter, Felicia McCullum; son, Dewayne Sanders; granddaughter, Alexis Seafus; sisters, Gladys Williams and Gaynell Tennyson; brothers, C.D. Sanders and Roy Sanders, Sr.

Mr. Sanders leaves to mourn his passing with his daughters, Selena (Albert) Jones and Debbie Sanders; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; sisters, Lee Alice Barge of Trenton, NJ and Marion White of Wadley; brothers-in-law, Meadie (Ira Lee) Phillips and Cleveland (Anna Laura) Phillips; sisters-in-law, Sadie Sanders and Patricia Sanders; very special friend, Jean Stanford; devoted friend, Vivian Cuyler.

Mosley’s Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
