Mary Bess Fields drove in four runs on one hit to lead David Emanuel Academy MS Eagles past Twiggs Academy 16-2 on Monday, August 26. In the fifth inning, Mary Bess hit an inside the park grand slam. The Middle School Eagles got on the board in the top of the first inning after Rayleigh Faircloth tripled, scoring one run, an error scored one run, Marlee Johnson tripled, scoring two runs, and Carrie Johnson grounded out, scoring one run. The Eagles added to their early lead in the top of the second inning after Sophie Young singled, Rayleigh singled, Twiggs Academy committed an error, Evie Moore hit into a fielder’s choice, and Marlee singled, each scoring one run. The Eagles added one run in the third. Layla Clark grounded out, making the score 11-2. Rayleigh earned the win for David Emanuel Academy MS Eagles. The righty gave up zero hits and zero runs over four and one-third innings, striking out 11 and walking none. Kaley Flowers stepped in the circle first for the Eagles. The hurler allowed zero hits and two runs over two-thirds of an inning, striking out one and walking six. The Eagles piled up 14 hits in the game. Marlee went 3-for-3 at the plate to lead the Eagles in hits. Rayleigh and Carrie each collected multiple hits for David Emanuel Academy. The Middle School Eagles didn’t commit a single error in the field. Evie had the most chances in the field with 13.
