Jessie B. Hodges, age 97, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 2, 2024, at her daughter’s home in Conyers. A Celebration of Life was held Sunday, September 8, at 3 p.m. at Piney Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Midville with Rev. Michael Thomas residing.

Jessie was born April 27, 1927, to the late Agnes Hope Phillips, and was later adopted by Fred and Ronie Cox of Emanuel County. She fell in love with her schoolmate, Warren “Babe” Hodges, Sr., and they married June 1, 1944. Jessie worked in the food and nutrition department at Summertown Elementary School which allowed her to do some of the things she loved the most, cooking and serving others. Her love for gardening, fishing, shopping and traveling brought joy to her life and she often spent her days enjoying the sun and caring for her beautiful plants and flowers. Mrs. Hodges is preceded in death by her husband; three sons; one granddaughter; and two great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Hodges leaves to cherish her memories with her daughters, Marion Mills and Martha Parker (Gerald); six grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; one daughter-in-law; nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.

Mosley’s Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
