East Georgia State College (EGSC) is launching its own Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) degree starting in the Spring of 2025. Building on the College’s most popular associate’s degree program, the expansion to the program as a bachelor’s degree will provide a pathway for students to complete their business education at EGSC rather than transferring to another institution. The BBA program aligns with the College’s mission and vision to extend associate degree options and develop baccalaureate degrees targeted to meet the workforce needs of our community.

“We are thrilled to announce the start of our new Bachelor of Business Administration program with its strong emphasis on career readiness. The program fosters the next generation of business leaders who are well-prepared to contribute to our local economy as well as meeting the needs of our region’s workforce,” said Dr. Catherine Whelan, Provost and Vice President for Academic and Student Affairs.

The Bachelor of Business Administration is designed to equip students with the knowledge, skills, and experiences required to succeed in various business and management roles. Students can select from a range of business courses to meet their needs or interests. Concentrations will be offered in financial technology, healthcare administration, office administration and technology, film and television post-production, and data science. The program will also provide an opportunity to work with area employers to address their employees’ educational needs and create student internship opportunities.

“I am excited for East Georgia State College to be able to partner with local businesses to provide internship opportunities for our students,” said Professor and Internship Coordinator Natasha Goss. “Internships bridge classroom learning with real-world experience and create networking opportunities for our students. Companies will benefit from the internships by being provided with eager, talented students ready to take the next step. The partnership between East Georgia State College and local businesses will strengthen community ties and foster economic growth in our region and beyond.”

EGSC’s experienced faculty are industry experts and seasoned professionals who bring real-world experience into the classroom. They encourage students to engage in practical, hands-on learning experiences through internships, projects, and case studies. Students will also benefit from career services, including resume development, interview preparation, and internship placement assistance.

The University System of Georgia (USG Board of Regents) approved the program in April of this year. The plan was then submitted to the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) for final approval. EGSC recently received approval from SACSCOC with permission to launch the program in January of 2025.

For more information about the BBA program, visit the EGSC website at www.ega.edu/bba. Applications for the program will open soon.
