First inning spurt leads DEA Eagles past Trinity Christian Academy

David Emanuel Academy Middle School Eagles scored six runs in the first inning, which helped them defeat Trinity Christian Academy 11-0 on Tuesday, September 17. Mary Bess Fields singled, scoring one run; a dropped third strike scored one run; Sophie Young drew a walk, scoring one run; Milly Farmer drew a walk, scoring one run; Blakely Brinson hit into a fielder’s choice, but two runs scored. The Eagles added to their early lead in the bottom of the third inning after Sophie walked, and Trinity Christian Academy committed an error, each scoring two runs. Rayleigh Faircloth earned the win for DEA. The starting pitcher surrendered zero hits and zero runs over three innings, striking out six and walking none. Mary Bess threw one inning of no-run ball for the Eagles in relief. The righty allowed one hit, striking out none and walking none. Blakely led the Eagles with two runs batted in from the number nine spot in the lineup. Mary Bess and Lara McNure each collected one hit for DEA. Sophie led the Eagles with three walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, collecting 11 walks for the game. Mary Bess stole two bases. The Eagles ran wild on the base paths, piling up nine stolen bases for the game. They turned one double play in the game. The Middle School Eagles were sure handed in the field and didn’t commit a single error. Evie Moore had the most chances in the field with six.
