From Emanuel County Schools:

We hope this message finds you safe and well.  As Emanuel County continues to recover from Hurricane Helene, Emanuel County Schools will adhere to our reopening plans for Tuesday only.

On Tuesday, October 8, 2024, all staff will return to work to prepare and plan for our re-opening. We hope that our students will be able to return on Wednesday, October 9, 2024, but we cannot confirm that at this time.  Please look for an update tomorrow, October 8, 2024, by 2:00 p.m.

Be reassured that we are continuing to monitor power outages and inspect our facilities.  Our transportation department is carefully monitoring bus routes, making necessary adjustments to ensure they are safe for student travel.  Information regarding changes in transportation schedules or routes will be provided.

Today, our Principals, Assistant Principals, Directors, Maintenance Employees, Bus Shop Employees, and Custodians returned to school to ensure a safe and secure environment for our students. We eagerly await the return of our students back into our air-conditioned schools, where students will receive breakfast and lunch.  Please know that if students return this week, our primary focus will be on our students and staff’s social and emotional well-being with academics being of secondary importance. We will be demonstrating “compassion over compliance.”  Dress codes for students and staff will be relaxed to provide a sense of comfort and support during this transition.  We do request no pajamas.  Teachers will not assign projects or homework this week or during next week’s Fall Break.  Fall Break remains scheduled for October 14-18, 2024.

Our thoughts are with our ECS families and community as they recover. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work through our reopening.
