The Wiregrass Chapter, Georgia Society Sons of the American Revolution held its monthly meeting at McKinney Pond Restaurant in Midville. With Vice President Alton Reynolds presiding, they had 18 in attendance including guests. Vice President Alton opened the meeting with a welcome and asked Chaplain Emory Fennell to open with a prayer and then lead the Pledge to the U.S. Flag and the Pledge to the SAR. They then enjoyed a great buffet. Vice President Alton then asked Compatriot Dess to introduce the speaker for the evening, Ransom Schwerzler, director for Meadow Gardens in Augusta. Schwerzler lives with her husband, Martin, in Augusta, and he is retired from the military. Her presentation was on “George Walton and the Meadow Gardens”. The next meeting will be December 12, at the First Methodist Church Social Hall at 6:30 p.m. and will be a joint DAR/SAR Christmas party.
