Mr. Bobby Delano Lane, 90, of Garfield, passed away Tuesday, November 26, 2024, at his residence following an extended illness. Funeral services were Saturday, November 30, at 11 a.m. at Mt. Olivet Baptist Church with Reverend Ben Gay officiating, assisted by Reverend Randy Adams. Interment followed in the Mt. Olivet Baptist Church Cemetery. The family received friends Friday, November 29, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Chapman Funeral Home.

Pallbearers were Chris Ellison, Clay Clark, Ronnie Fleming, John Paul Johnson, Mace Henry and W.C. Grimes.

Mr. Lane was born on January 10, 1934, in Jenkins County, to the late Ben F. Lane, Sr. and Bessie Mae Johnson Lane. He was a member of Mt. Olivet Baptist Church where he was an avid church member until his health began to decline. Bobby was a previous Sunday School Teacher. He was born at home in a family of five. Bobby was raised on a farm his whole life. He had a passion for farming and worked from dawn to dusk. Bobby loved his family, farm, and Red Man Silver Tobacco from his young years until he went home to be with the lord. Mr. Lane is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Maxie Ann Roberson Lane; brothers, Ben “Buddy” Lane and Charles “Babe” Lane; and sister, Dorothy Bennett.

Mr. Lane is survived by his daughter, Beth Lane of Swainsboro; sons, Jefferey Lane (Faye) of Garfield, Mark Lane (Sandy) of Twin City and Matthew Lane (Kelly) of Garfield; grandchildren, Heather Sapp (Randy) and Mattie Grace Lane; great-grandchildren, Hunter Lane, Mason Lane, Cayden Lane, Jaxon Sapp and Logan Sapp; sister, Ann Fordham (Jerry) of Statesboro; sister-in-law, Betty Lane of Adrian; several nieces, nephews and many friends.

Chapman Funeral Home of Swainsboro is in charge of arrangements.
