Swainsboro High Beta Club excels at State Convention

The Swainsboro High School Beta Club brought home a remarkable collection of awards from the State Beta Convention held in Savannah, Georgia, from December 2, to December 4, 2024. Under the dedicated guidance of sponsors Cindy Riner, Selena Reynolds, and Erica Johnson, the students showcased their talents by competing in various categories; these talented students shone brightly, earning numerous accolades and representing their school with distinction.

Among the exceptional achievements, Tate Torpy won third place in 9th Grade Agriscience and first place in Division I Woodworking. Terralynn Brinson earned second place in 11th Grade Biomedical. D’Andre Smith secured fifth place in Division II Color Photography and had the honor of leading the Pledge of Allegiance at the first general session. Dakota Bravo achieved fifth place in Division II Digitally Enhanced Photography, while Rileigh Andrews earned first place in Division I Mixed Media. Maliyah Jones placed fourth in Division I Drawing, and Kylee Farley received fourth place in Division II Poetry.

TJ McCullough took third place in 10th Grade Science, and Dei’Vion Davis earned second place in Division I Speech, with Yasmin Rios following with fourth place in Division II Speech. Emma Sconyers achieved fourth place in Three-Dimensional Design, while Lillian Mason earned first place in Division I Sculpture. Abby Phillips won first place in Division II Sculpture, and the team of Tykerria Phillips, Kimberly Vazquez, and Jakayla Coleman received fourth place in the Service-Learning Showcase.

Cari Phillips was a standout competitor, winning first place in Division II Woodworking and earning “Best in Show” for Division II Visual Arts. The team of Grayson Brassell, Bo Brown, Lillian Mason, and Gi’Zyria Kirkland claimed first place in Musicology. Alexus Mercer excelled in writing, winning first place in the Service Impact Essay competition. Yi’Zhariah Bell secured first place in the Solo, Duo, and Trio Dancer categories and was selected as a Premier Performer, earning a golden ticket to perform at nationals in June.

Special recognition was given to Bryson Tarver, who received the prestigious Georgia Council Convention Scholarship for his outstanding resume and leadership.

The accomplishments of the Swainsboro High Beta Club reflect their hard work, dedication, and immense talent. Their remarkable success at the State Beta Convention is a testament to their commitment to excellence and the unwavering support of their sponsors. These achievements highlight the spirit of Swainsboro High School and Tiger Pride and inspire the entire community.
