Corey Dwayne Johnson, age 43, transitioned to be with the Lord on Saturday, December 14, 2024. A Celebration of Life was held Saturday, December 28, at 11 a.m. at St. Philip Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Jonathan Hampton officiating.
Corey was born May 5, 1981, in Dublin, to Gloria Faye Hampton and Wayne Johnson. He was raised in Swainsboro by his grandparents, Henry and Rosa Hampton. Corey graduated Swainsboro High School in 1998 and enlisted in the US Air Force. Prior to Corey’s declining health, his most recent fulltime job was with NASCAR Daytona Speedway. He loved children, listening to music, spectator sports, shopping for and wearing fashion clothing and keeping his family and friends up to date with current events and happenings. Mr. Johnson is preceded in death by his grandparents, James Henry Hampton, Rosa M. Hampton and Sarah Royal Johnson.
Mr. Johnson leaves to cherish his memories with his parents; fiancé, Lakesha Jones of Palatka, FL; sons, Damian Leshon Johnson of Virginia Beach, VA and Jamie Allen of Palatka, FL; daughters, Destiny Rayshawn Johnson of Virginia Beach, VA, Jakeah Allen of Palatka, FL and Mekenzie Boston of Palm Bay, FL; and a host of other relative and friends.
Mosley’s Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
