Rubye Nell Gillis Strowbridge, age 81, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, January 11, 2025, at Emanuel County Nursing Home. A Celebration of Life was held Sunday, January 19, at 2 p.m. at St. Phillip Baptist Church with Pastor Cedric Barnett officiating.

Rubye was born September 7, 1943, in Treutlen County, to the late Luther Gillis Sr. and Emma Lee Harper Gillis. She attended and graduated from Treutlen County Elementary and High Schools. On September 6, 1964, Rubye married the love of her life, Willie Jospeh Strowbridge. To this union, they had three children. Rubye attended Nursing School at Swainsboro Technical College and became self-employed as a private sitter/caregiver. Mrs. Strowbridge is preceded in death by her parents; husband; four brothers; and one sister.

Mrs. Strowbridge leaves to cherish many fond memories with her daughter, Alicia Cheron (Cedric) Barnett of Prattville, AL; sons, Randall Bernard (Carolyn) Strowbridge of Swainsboro and Dexter Rodregius Strowbridge of Atlanta; grandchildren, LaKayla Frazier of Warner Rob-ins, Lewis of Atlanta, Jonathan Oglesby and Nicholas Hall, both of Augusta; four sisters; and a host of great-grandchildren, cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Mosley’s Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
