The 2025 ECI baseball season kicks off this week with 4 games on tap. Tuesday, they traveled to Reidsville to take on Tattnall Co. and will get back on the road to Savannah, Thursday with a game against Savannah Country Day. The Bulldogs will have their season opener at Joe Harvey Field this Saturday against Swainsboro with JV and Varsity teams seeing action. The JV game will begin at 11 with a 1 p.m. scheduled start for the varsity teams.

They kicked off the preseason last week with their annual scrimmage game in Statesboro against the Blue Devils. Pitching ruled the day with the 7-inning scrimmage ending in a 1-1 tie. The Blue Devils scored their run in the bottom of the fifth after leading off the inning with a double. They moved the runner over to third on a long fly ball to right and scored one batter later on a wild pitch. The Bulldogs tied the game in the top of the sixth for their only run. With one out in the sixth, Jackson Kennedy and Ab Marsh reached with singles. Jud Underwood hit into a fielder’s choice scoring Kennedy to tie the game at 1-1. The Bulldogs used 7 different arms during the game with each getting one inning of work giving up just 2 hits to Statesboro. Toeing rubber for the Bulldogs were Bryson Thompson, Jackson Kennedy, Jud Underwood, Davis Johnson, Gabe Lee, Lake Bush and Tuff Boddiford. Getting hits for the Bulldogs were Ab Marsh with 2 hits and Lee, Kanyon Thompson and Kennedy getting the other 3 hits.

The Bulldogs will continue their non-region schedule next week until they open up region play on February 25 with a match-up in Metter against the Tigers.
