The Fall Line Chapter Georgia Society Sons of the American Revolution held their monthly meeting Tuesday night, February 11, at the Washington County Chamber of Commerce in Sandersville at 7 p.m. With President Sandy Mercer presiding, they had 6 in attendance. President Sandy led the Pledge to the U.S. Flag, the Pledge to the Sons of the American Revolution, then called on Chaplain Ken Lindsey to say the prayer. President Sandy then asked EFLR Vice President Dess Smith III to introduce the speaker for the evening, Veteran Laura Howard. Howard is from Screven County and her husband Wayne Howard is the Past President of the Brier Creek Chapter SAR and is also a Veteran of the U.S. Army and the Georgia Army National Guard serving in the 118th Field Artillery in Savannah. Howard’s presentation was on “Women’s Contribution to the Military and our Country. She talked about women who served from the American Revolutionary War through the present-day War’s. President Sandy then called on Dess for a special presentation, presenting President Sandy four Chapter Flag Streamers; the Elijah Clarke Heroes of the Hornet’s Nest, the 246th Anniversary of the Battle at Kettle Creek, the 2024 Fort Frederica Naval Battle event, and the 2024 245th Battle at Brier Creek event. Chaplain Ken then led the SAR Processional and the closing prayer.
