The Kalmanson Gallery of Emanuel Arts Council recently hosted a special event to celebrate Black History Month. Organized by EAC board members Alan Brasher, Kenny Griffin and Syvetta Young, the event was well attended by members of our local community.

Performing that night were Rosey Young, Leah Brown, Karter Jenkins, Chondra Henderson, Dei’Vion Davis, Kenny Griffin and Lena Nwakudu. Among items displayed were a rare, vintage collection of black Santas, art by public school students and African figurines.

The Emanuel Arts Council, Inc. (EAC) is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization whose purpose is to empower and grow the community through cultural programs in all areas of the arts. The EAC operates through donations, fundraisers, and grants.

The Kalmanson Gallery is open Tuesday through Friday, 12 to 3 p.m. and is located at 109 North Green Street. Updates and information on current programming may be found on the EAC Facebook and Instagram pages.
