Dear Editor,

We are writing to bring your attention to a matter of significant importance regarding the Emanuel County Auditorium, a beloved landmark in our community. Over the past four city council meetings, we have been raising awareness about the auditorium’s current state and need for its preservation.

Constructed in 1964, the Emanuel County Auditorium holds a special place in our hearts, having hosted its first graduating ceremony of the Swainsboro High School graduating class of 1964. Over the years, it has served as a venue for numerous community events, including The Christian Crusade, Dancing with the Stars, Prom Fest, dance recitals, band concerts, pageants, and funerals. These events bring us together, fostering a sense of community and shared heritage.

We have highlighted pressing needs for repairs and maintenance to ensure the auditorium remains a safe and functional place for all. We have offered to assist the city with securing funding to help cover the costs of repairs and electricity, demonstrating our commitment to preserving this vital community asset. However, at this time, the future of the auditorium remains uncertain, making it even more crucial for us to take immediate action.

It is essential, that we as a community, step up to support these efforts. We would like to en-courage all citizens to engage with their city council representatives and attend city council meetings and gather accurate and factual information about the auditorium’s condition and plans for the future. By participating in these discussions, we can express our own concerns and opinions, ensuring that the voices of the Emanuel County residents are heard and con-sidered.

Let us come together to protect and maintain the Emanuel County Auditorium, ensuring it continues to serve as a hub for community events and a symbol of our shared history. Your involvement and support can make a significant difference in preserving this landmark for future generations.

Sincerely,

Carol V. Donaldson
