Remember when the word was sweet, innocent, pure and loving. It took several weeks for bad news from up north to reach us in the deep south. By the time it reached us, the news was no longer important, bad, or tragic. Years ago “love” solved all of our problems because God was in complete charge of our lives from daylight to darkness, and from moment to moment.

“Prayer” gave us a hotline directly to our Lord’s grace, love, and wisdom. We followed His advice as it pierced the hearts of lost souls. Now the love of the almighty dollar has replaced prayer in our homes, schools, and government. Now to banish Jesus from the face of the earth, and by all accounts the devil is gaining ground in Washington, D.C. and the rest of the world.

After a recent bombing in a war-torn country, a desperate mother told a war correspondent that she was “tired” of pulling her children from their beds in the middle of night and taking them to a bomb shelter to escape and secure their safety, as the deadly bombs dropped closer to their homeplace.

How sad that those children had such a painful childhood! Thank goodness my childhood was filled with hope, love and anticipation with God’s love!

Late on a summer night the music of raindrops fell on our tin rooftop. The soft summer wind played a game of tag near the eves of our country cottage. The house was “warm” and “safe” from the outside world, while Mama and Daddy’s soft slumbering’s of rest came from a nearby bedroom. Other sounds of peace and security came from my five sisters down the hall. Our minds, hearts, and souls were at rest.
