Swainsboro High School FFA members made a strong impression at the recent 97th Annual Georgia FFA Convention in Macon. The multi-day event gathered thousands of FFA students from across the state to honor excellence in agricultural education, leadership, and student achievement.
During the convention, Swainsboro High School students engaged in a variety of enriching experiences. They explored opportunities at the Career and Trade Show, connected with professionals in the agriculture industry, and participated in sessions featuring motivational speakers. Students also competed and received recognition for their outstanding accomplishments in agricultural education.
Gavin Glisson and Brittany Waters each earned the prestigious Georgia FFA State Degree, an achievement that highlights their dedication to agricultural learning and their supervised agricultural experience projects. Gracie Stapleton and Kynslie Crapps were recognized for their work in the Agriscience Fair, where their research project stood out for its scientific merit and agricultural relevance.
Tate Torpy was named the state winner in the Fiber and/or Oil Crop Production Proficiency Award category. He will advance by resubmitting his application for the national competition this summer.
The Georgia FFA Convention celebrated the commitment, passion, and leadership of the next generation of agricultural professionals. Swainsboro FFA continues to uphold a proud tradition of excellence and positively reflects the Swainsboro community. These accomplishments were made possible under the guidance and support of SHS FFA advisors Mr. Ashley Henry, Ms. Faith Patrick, and Dr. Shannon Lawrence.
