An opening reception for the exhibition featuring artwork of Vicky Bernard will be held May 15, from 5 to 7 p.m. in The Kalmanson Gallery of Emanuel Arts Council. The reception will be sponsored by the Emanuel Artists Guild and the event is free and open to the public.

Vicky is a self-taught artist of watercolors and oils and lives near Coleman Lake in Midville. “I started painting late in life, just a couple of years after 2000,” she said. “My first paintings were inspired by my mother’s African Violets and Crown of Thorns. I painted these florals for them when they moved down here and needed some art on their walls.” Vicky is a member of the Arts Guild of Jefferson County and the Midville Garden Club. She is the sister of the late David Bernard, former owner of Berni’s Restaurant in Swainsboro.

The exhibition will be on display through late June. Gallery hours are 12 to 3 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, or by appointment. All art exhibitions are free and open to the public. The Kalmanson Gallery has been consistently programming art exhibitions since December 2021, with a total of six exhibitions each calendar year.

The Emanuel Arts Council, Inc. (EAC) is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization whose purpose is to empower and grow the community through cultural programs in all areas of the arts. The EAC operates through donations, fundraisers, and grants. For updates on current programming at the EAC, find them at emauelarts.org, and on Facebook and Instagram.
