The River Rats have toured the Ogeechee once again and broken yet another
record. They thought last year’s record of $56,000 was going to be the limit – but it wasn’t!
In April of this year, 38 boats carrying 75 men who call themselves the River Rats, set off at the Bull Hole in Jenkins County on Friday, April 25 to make their annual tour of the Ogeechee River. The trip ended on Sunday, April 27 at Kings Ferry in Chatham County.
Money is raised by selling t-shirts, shotgun tickets and by participants donating and getting sponsorships from businesses and individuals.
The monetary response has always been overwhelming, but this year another record was broken with the River Rats raising an amazing $63,000, which was donated to the Greenville Shriner’s Hospital on May 27.
The River Rats would like to take this opportunity to thank all their sponsors and look forward to their support in the future. If anyone would like to participate in next year’s tour, contact one of the River Rats. If approached by a River Rat to be a sponsor, remember all the money raised goes to a worthwhile cause.
