The Veterans at the Library held their weekly meeting at the Franklin Memorial Library Monday morning, June 2, at 9 a.m. With Chair Johnny Tapley presiding, there were 39 in attendance. The UDC provided a great breakfast of breakfast casserole, grits, muffins, fresh fruit and Shari Watt furnished the orange juice, cranberry juice, grape juice, apple juice and coffee. Chair John Tapley spoke about the Memorial Day event out at Harmon Park last Monday, May26, and the December 13, 2025 “Wreaths Across America” event. He advised that they need to try and walk as many Emanuel County Cemeteries as they can to locate veterans’ graves. It looks like at the present, they will place over 2,500 wreaths this year. Chair Johnny gave an update on the “Veterans Cup Golf Tournament” that was held Saturday, May 17, at the Swainsboro Country Club. They had twenty-one three person teams to play. Next Monday’s Veterans at the Library event will have a guided tour by Melissa Kirby of the new Karrh Center on North Green Street which includes the newly renovated Movie Theatre at 10 a.m.
