Dawn Warren Braddy, 65

Dawn Warren Braddy, age 65, entered her heavenly home peacefully surrounded by those who loved her most on Monday, June 9, 2025. Funeral services will be Wednesday, June 11, at 10 a.m. in the chapel of Chapman Funeral Home with Reverend Mark Sweat officiating. Family will receive friends Tuesday, June 10, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Chapman Funeral Home.

Pallbearers are Scottie Bell, Benjamin Bell, Clay Lanigan, Jayme Elliotte, Christopher Ivy and Jamie Tanner.

Dawn was born August 4, 1959, in Chatham County, to the late Lynette and Boy Warren of Oak Park. She brought joy and warmth to every life she touched. Best known for her smile and generous heart, Dawn brightened every room she entered and left lasting memories for all who got to know her.

A devoted wife, mother and grandmother, Dawn treasured family above all; she always placed them at the center of her life, guiding her decisions with compassion and unconditional love. Together with her husband of 49 years, Jimmy D. Braddy, she built a life filled with happiness and cherished memories. Together they raised three beautiful children, Lynn Braddy Sapp of Portal, Jimmy Wray Braddy of Metter, and preceded in death by their third child just months before, in January, Rusty Marion Braddy.

Dawn was the strong heart of her family — a woman whose greatest joy came from the people she loved. She poured her time, energy, and unwavering affection into being a wife, a mom, and “Nana” — titles she carried with pride and grace. Dawn’s family was her world, and she made every moment together feel like a treasured memory in the making.

Dawn grew up with a strong love for family, a great sense of humor and a joy for adventures — a legacy she is leaving behind to her children and grandchildren. Whether it was casting a line from the edge of the river, camping around a fire at the lake or gliding across the water in a boat watching her children, and grandchildren tube; she sometimes even joined in on the fun herself, if you can imagine, she just loved an adventure! Dawn loved traveling too, taking many trips with family and friends throughout her lifetime! She loved the mountains, lakes and rivers. Whether they went by car or camper, she was eager to see different places. Dawn was always ready to go too, whether her family had a camping trip planned or her sisters were ready to load up and hit the road, she was always ready to explore somewhere new! These moments were never about the catch or the destination, but about the laughter, the stories and the togetherness.

Dawn loved serving others. She started her service career when she was 17, at Dairy Queen, where she worked on and off for 18 years. She then worked at the Tax Commissioner’s office for over eight years. Dawn then worked at the Magistrate Office for 14 years and was truly humbled and honored when elected by her county as Magistrate Judge in the 2016 election. Running for office and being elected was the highlight of her career, as well as made her husband beam with pride. She took the position with the utmost respect and truly cared for each and every aspect of her job during her tenure. It was with a heavy heart and deep deliberation that Dawn had to give up her position earlier than desired because of her health. She was a faithful member of Pendleton Springs Baptist Church and will leave behind her strong church family that she was thankful for daily. Mrs. Braddy now joins her parents; son, Rusty Braddy; granddaughter, Jade Braddy; and two brothers, Freddy Warren and Wray Warren in peaceful rest.

Mrs. Braddy is survived by her beloved husband of 49 years, Jimmy D. Braddy; two children, Lynn Sapp (Jason) and Jimmy W. Braddy (Polly); adopted daughter, Michelle Lyons of Swainsboro; adored grandchildren, Denny Sapp (Jobie), Cassy Surrency (Tyler), Jaci Sapp, Nat Henry Braddy, J. Fisher Braddy and Jansley Braddy; two great-grandchildren, Tatum Surrency and Brynnlyn Sapp; two sisters and a brother she loved dearly and their spouses; many extended nieces, nephews and friends who were lucky enough to know her love.

Though our hearts grieve, we rejoice in the hope of Christ and the assurance that we will one day be together again. Dawn’s legacy of faith, love and compassion will continue to shine through her family, friends and all the lives she touched. She is deeply missed, forever loved and now at peace with Jesus.
