The Swainsboro City Council will finally have a full complement of members following the election last Tuesday, June 17, of Lafonda Hackett Kelly over Sue Bragg in the contest for rep-resentation of District 1. The resulting numbers tallied at 50 for Kelly with Bragg garnering a total of 33. The breakdown of returns showed Kelly with 45 votes on election day and 5 votes from advanced voting for a total of 60.24%. Bragg received 21 votes on election day with 12 votes from advanced voting for a total of 39.76%. The next calendar call for local politics will occur in mid-August with qualifying for three city council races and a Swainsboro city mayor’s race.
