Mr. Richard William Herndon, 84, resident of Twin City, passed away Sunday, June 15, 2025, in Vidalia. Funeral services were held Friday, June 20, at 11 a.m. from the Chapel of Tomlinson Funeral Home with Pastor Ricky Down officiating. Interment followed in the Twin City Cemetery. Family accepted visitors Thursday, June 19, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Tomlinson Funeral Home.

Pallbearers were Pamela Herndon Martin, Natalee Marie Brown, Hagan Allen Brown, Ronald D. Martin, Jeffery Herndon and Zack Martin.

Richard was born April 12, 1941, in Gloverville, South Carolina, to the late George Augustus Herndon and Katherine Reynolds Poss Herndon. He had retired from the construction business and was a United States Army Veteran. Richard married the love of his life, Virginia, June 7, 1966. Mr. Hernon is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Larry Herndon and Wayne Herndon; and sisters, Lucille Kilpatrick, Shirley Eskew and Myrtlee Blackstone.

Survivors include his wife, Virginia Kirkland Herndon; daughter, Pamela H. Martin (Ronald); grandchildren, Katherine L. Brown (Allen) and Zack Martin (Courtlyn); great-granddaughter, Natalee Brown; great-grandsons, Hagan Brown and Colt Martin; brothers, Tommy Herndon, Arlan Herndon and Robert Herndon; sisters, Clara Dukes, Emily Gonian and GeorgeAnn Phillips.

Arrangements were by Tomlinson Funeral Home and Crematory of Swainsboro.
