Jimmy Robert Sanders, age 78, passed away Sunday, June 29, 2025, at his residence surrounded by his loving family and his little dog, Benji. Funeral service was held Tuesday July 1, at 2 p.m. at El Bethel Baptist Church. Interment followed in the church cemetery. Visitation was held Monday, June 30, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Kennedy Funeral homes, Hooks Chapel, of Metter.

Jimmy was born October 23, 1946, to the late Ruby Lee and Thetis Randall Sanders. He was a native of Twin City and worked in industrial construction as an electrician. Some of Jimmy’s favorite things included riding his tractor, using his chainsaw, and working in his pecan trees, but his greatest joy was spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was a member of the El Bethel Baptist Church where he was a deacon for thirty-eight years and in charge of the children’s nursery for many, many years. In addition to his parents, Mr. Sanders is preceded in death by his bride of fifty-six years, Glenda Lanier Sanders.

Surviving is his daughter, Joan Sanders Turner; two sons and daughters-in-law, Jim and Kimmy Sanders and John and Brandi Sanders; grandchildren, Anna Sanders, Bailey Sanders, Adam Sanders, Blake Sanders, Emily Turner, Ansley Turner, Payne Sanders, and Creed Sanders; sister, Mary Gay; in-laws, Jean Sanders, JoAnn Sanders, Don Rabitsch, Faye Lanier, Billy and Tish Lanier and Margaret and Van Pease; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Kennedy Funeral Homes, Hooks Chapel, of Metter, was in charge of arrangements.
