The Twin City Lions Club is proud to announce that charter member Loy D. Cowart, Jr. has been inducted into the Lions Club District 18-N Hall of Fame. Lion Cowart is the second member from the club inducted into the Hall of Fame, following Lion John William Turner. Lion Cowart has been a dedicated member to the club for over 61 years and has served in many capacities including club president. Lion Cowart was also a charter member of the Swainsboro Lions Club prior to the Twin City Club’s existence. The Twin City Men’s Supper Club became the Lions Club in February of 1964.
Lion Cowart has also been a dedicated servant to his church and his community. Lion Cowart has been a member of Twin City First Baptist Church for 80 years and a Deacon for 50 years. He served on the Emanuel County Board of Education for 20 years, Ag South Farm Credit Board for 50 years, Durden Banking Company Board for 35 years and Chairman for 30 years, Emanuel County Development Authority for 20 years, Emanuel County Tax Assessor for 20 years and he proudly served our country in the United States Army Reserves for 12 years.
