Swainsboro Fire Department hosts Fire Instructor class

Last Friday, June 27, Swainsboro Fire Department hosted a Fire Instructor 1 class which gives Firefighters the tools to be able to teach others fire related information they’ve learned themselves. There are two more levels to this certification, Instructor 2 and Instructor 3. Individuals from the surrounding areas which included Pooler, Vidalia, and Metter, and members of the Swainsboro Fire Department participated in the course. Once finished with this course, they will receive a National Professional Certification which is accepted across the country. Chief Mims stated, “We are a young department and having our young firefighters feeling more comfortable about teaching to others helps them grow, which directly impacts them being able to better serve our communities.”
