On Wednesday afternoon, August 6, deputy conducted a traffic stop on Hwy 57 for driver not wearing a seatbelt. Deputy approached the driver and asked for his driver’s license, and he presented a Georgia ID card. Deputy then asked if he had a valid license and he stated he did. Deputy ran the driver’s information to find he had a warrant for his arrest, had it confirmed, then asked the driver to step out of the vehicle. Driver replied “okay” then put the vehicle in drive and fled the traffic stop. The driver reached speeds of up to 130 MPH, entering on-coming traffic multiple times, forcing multiple vehicles off the road and exiting the roadway to avoid striking a vehicle. Once entering into Reidsville, driver struck a vehicle and continued south. Driver was observed throwing items out the window and the pursuit ended when a GSP Reidsville Trooper successfully performed the PIT maneuver. The vehicle entered into the ditch and rolled onto the passenger side then back down on all four tires. Driver attempted to exit the vehicle and was surrounded by officers giving commands for him to show his hands when officer noticed a gun under his shirt and observed offender trying to grab it. After multiple commands, offender finally showed his hands. During the search, one bag of fentanyl, eleven bags of meth, two bags of marijuana, one bag of blue pills, a black pill, two iPhones, digital scales, a Glock with two magazines, 60 rounds of ammo and $1,217 cash was found. Clinton Wayne Scarboro was arrested and charged with trafficking meth (1.8 pounds), trafficking fentanyl (11.4 grams), possession of firearm by convicted felon, fleeing and attempting to elude officers, possession of drug related object, possession of firearm during commission of felony and possession of marijuana (58.2 grams) with intent to distribute. Scarboro is being held in the Emanuel County Jail without bond.
