Lessie Bell Marion, age 88, was summoned by our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Friday, August 22., 2025, to bring back the soul of his faithful servant. A Homecoming Celebration was held Saturday, August 30, at 1 p.m. at Smith Grove Missionary Baptist Church with Pastor Bobby Lawrence presiding and Rev. Dr. Wilbert Kennedy officiating.

Lessie was born October 16, 1936, in Emanuel County, fifth child to the late Robert, Sr. and Sylvia Cody Marion. Her education began with her attending the one room school named Gary Elementary School near Smith Grove Missionary Baptist Church and graduated in 1955. Betty loves reading novels, reciting poems, the Holy Bible, participating in church programs and caring for her younger siblings. She was united in holy matrimony in Jersey City, NJ, to the late Johnny Young, and returned to Swainsboro in the 70’s. Mrs. Marion is preceded in death by her parents; husband; five sisters; three brothers; and a niece.

Mrs. Marion leaves her memories with her sister, JoAnn Foots; brothers, Aldrich (Roma) Marion and James (Ruby) Marion; Nancy Way, all of Swainsboro; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.

Mosley’s Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
