Mrs. Margaret B. Collins, age 94, of Swainsboro, passed away Tuesday, August 26, 2025, at Emanuel Medical Center. Funeral services were held Sunday, August 31, at 2 p.m. at Hawhammock Baptist Church with Rev. Joe Bedgood officiating, assisted by Rev. Cail Pressey. Interment followed at Eastbrook Cemetery and Mausoleum. Family received friends Saturday, August 30, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Chapman Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were Shane Carter, Wes Thompson, Landon Carter, Kip Gibson, Ronnie Wilson, and Kenny Weaver. Honorary Pallbearers were the Adult Ladies Sunday School Class.
Margaret was born September 13, 1930, in Rocky Ford, to the late Clem Beasley and Claudia Lee Beasley. She was born in Bulloch County and graduated from Jenkins County High School. Margaret worked at Swainsboro Sportswear for 28 years and Shop Rite Pharmacy for 16 years. She was a Sunday school teacher and helped in the nursery at Dellwood Baptist Church for 34 years and was a member of Hawhammock Baptist Church. Mrs. Collins is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Rev. Bill Thompson; daughter, Lynn Wright; brothers, Clem Beasley and Vernon Mincey; sisters, Gwendolyn Littlefield, Lorena Durden and Nadine Wilson; and son-in-law, Bob Turner.
Mrs. Collins is survived by her husband, Russell Collins; children, Diane Turner of Saint Simons and William (Robin) Thompson of Bluffton, SC.; grandchildren, Shane Carter, Christi Gibson, Wes (Cara) Thompson, Amanda (Jake) Mormon and Justin (Savannah) Turner; great-grandchildren, Courtni Gibson, Kip (Blakelee) Gibson, Landon Carter, Callen Lee Mormon, Brynn Leigh Mormon and Camille Leigh Mormon; bonus children, Connie (Raymond) Wiley, Wanda (Rusty) Simmons and Cathy (Jeff) Powell; bonus grandchildren, Heath (Megan) Simmons, Lance (Taylor) Simmons, Marshall (Anna) Powell, Josh (Morgan) Powell, Taylor Powell, Jason Wiley, Tony Wiley and Sandy Wiley; bonus great-grandchildren, Liam Simmons, Livi Simmons, Leila Simmons, Gates Simmons, Luke Simmons, Joe Simmons, Brooks Powell, Brody Powell, Declan Powell, Charlotte Powell, George Ann Wiley, Gannon (Catherine) Wiley and Trey Wiley; several nieces, nephews and many friends.
