The Mission Ministry of Piney Grove Missionary Baptist Church, Cross–Green Community, honored its senior members with a joyful and spirit-filled celebration during regular services Sunday, August 24, at 9 a.m. Themed “Aging is an Honor, So Celebrate It,” featured scripture readings, prayers, hymns, and action songs. Laughter and fellowship filled the sanctuary during a lively round of “Bible Senior Citizen Jeopardy.”

Dr. Elvira G. Jackson led the program, while Dr. Barbara Jordan, musician, uplifted the audience with her rendition of “Hold On, Hang on in There”, and Pastor Reverend Michael Thomas delivered a powerful message from Psalm 71, entitled “The Old Folk Prayer.” Honorees received tokens of love from the Mission Ministry, a money corsage, a gift bag and dinner in their honor. A special salute was given to Brother Allen Johnson, Jr., who retired from Balfour Beatty Infrastructure in June of this year.
