Mrs. Janet Loraine Gardner, age 77, of Adrian, passed away Sunday, September 14, 2025, at her residence following an extended illness. Memorial service will be held Friday, September 19, at 1 p.m. in the chapel of Chapman Funeral Home with Reverend Mark Hardin officiating. Family will receive friends one hour prior to services.

Janet was born on April 6, 1948, in Suffolk, Virginia, to the late Hoyle Garris and Eula Jeanette Mulder Grizzard. She spent her early adult life traveling all over the United States with her husband Ernest, a journeyman lineman. After his retirement, they settled in Adrian where Janet worked as a cafeteria manager at Adrian school. After her retirement, she enjoyed working with her flowers, crossword puzzles, and coloring. Janet loved traveling and spending time with her two nieces, Ginna Marie Dyson and Jane (PJ) Vicent, going on many adventures. Janet was a Christian woman who loved her family. Mrs. Gardner is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ernest Gardner; brother, Robert T. Grizzard, Jr.; and sister, Mari Evelyn Rich.

Mrs. Gardner is survived by her son, David Gardner; sisters, Dawn Boaen (Tooter) of Savannah, Lynda Becker of Swainsboro and Angie Smith (Ralph) of Brunswick; brother, Thomas Garris (Jane) of Adrian; several nieces, nephews and many friends.

The family would like to thank all the staff and management at Scott Rehabilitation Nursing Home for taking such good care of her in her final years.

Chapman Funeral Home of Swainsboro is in charge of arrangements.
