William Ray “Bil” Jines, 84

Mr. William Ray “Bil” Jines, 84, of Twin City, passed away Thursday, September 25, 2025, at his residence surrounded by family. Funeral services were held Sunday, September 28, at 3 p.m. at Twin City Methodist Church with Rev. Randall Smith officiating. Interment followed at Elam Baptist Church Cemetery. Family received friends one hour prior to the service at Twin City Methodist Church.

Pallbearers were Addison Gillespie, Christian Gilbert, Charles Gilbert, Ethan Gilbert, Brandon Jones, and G.W. Johnson.

Mr. Jines was the third boy born to Dalmer and Madge Dupuis Jines on December 27, 1940, in Lake Charles, Louisiana. Bil always said they were blessed to have a loving Cajun grandma living with them. An honor student and member of the Key Club at Lake Charles High School, Bil went on to graduate from McNeese State University where he served in the Ware Rifles. After working on a master’s degree at Kansas University, Bil served four years as a First Lieutenant in the United States Army at Warner Robins Air Force Base, Georgia. There, he met and married Glenda Anderson. Bil and Glenda began married life in Dallas, Texas, and he went to work with Mobil Oil Company in 1965. Every day for 30 years, Bil went to work and came home from work with a smile on his face. He loved his work! In his career, he did an eight-year stent in Saudi Arabia. Bil, who always loved music and singing, became a part of a barbershop quartet in Saudi Arabia. In the Dallas area, Bil and Glenda trained up their precious girls, Jessica and Carrie. Bil enjoyed playing and coaching soccer and racing sailboats. Church and choir were always important to Bil, and he served faithfully in the Coppell Methodist Church.

The move to Twin City in 2008 was a wonderful change for Bil, and he fell in love with the town and its kind and caring people. He loved to tell people, “And we live in Glenda’s grandmother’s house!” Bil immediately joined the Twin City Methodist Church and choir and the Lion’s Club. He took great pleasure in living life with family and friends.

Bil found joy in life in many things. He loved his grandchildren. He loved music. He loved traveling with Glenda in the motorhome, especially on the Alaska trip. Bil loved solving puzzles and problems. He was a lifelong learner, always curious. He enjoyed the Cajun food of Southwest Louisianna. He loved humor. Most importantly, he loved his family and his God. He was deeply spiritual. Mr. Jines is preceded in death by his parents.

Mr. Jines is survived by his wife of 59 years, Glenda A. Jines of Twin City; daughters, Carolyn Jessica Gillespie (Joseph Bukuru) of Wichita, Falls, Texas and Carrie Elizabeth Gilbert (Wade Klein) of Larkspur, Colorado; grandchildren, Addison Gillespie (Autumn), Christian Gilbert, Caroline Gilbert, Charles Gilbert, Emily Gilbert, Ethan Gilbert and Eleanor Gilbert; brothers, Robert Jines (Ona) and Richard Jines; sister, June Migues (Robert); several nieces, nephews and many friends.

The family wishes to express gratitude to the staff of Pruitt Health Hospice Swainsboro for their excellent care and kindness.
