SAR, DAR and CAR members traveled to Augusta to participate in the 2nd Siege of Augusta event and 243rd Anniversary Celebration that happened during the American Revolution in September 1781. The event this year, sponsored by the Colonel William Few Chapter, GASSAR and the Henry Laurens Chapter, SCSSAR, was held at the Kroc Center in Augusta at 1 p.m. After the wreath laying ceremony, Taps was played and then the Commander ordered “Mourn Muskets” to honor those brave Revolutionary War Patriots. After the benediction, everyone moved outside for the battle re-enactment in the field behind the Kroc Center by the Brier Creek Militia, Elijah Clarke Militia, East Fall Line Continentals, the Skunk Brigade and the Brier Creek Artillery. The Patriot Force was commanded by General Andrew Pickens (Alton Reynolds) and Colonel Henry “Light Horse Harry” Lee (Alton McCloud) with 10 infantry men, two six-pounder Cannons and one eight-pounder Cannon, AND the Patriots WON again. Others participating from the Skunk Brigade were Ted Walker, SCSSAR, Alton McCloud, Gary Mason, Don Bazemore, Alton Reynolds and Tommy Chappell.
