Judy Todd Johns, age 78, of Twin City, passed away Wednesday, November 5, 2025, at Emanuel Medical Nursing Home. Funeral services were held Sunday, November 9, at 3 p.m. in the chapel of Chapman Funeral Home with Reverends Robert Beckum and Gregory Ely officiating. Interment followed in Friendship Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery in Twin City. Family received friends one hour prior to services.

Pallbearers were Joey Amerson, Marshall Amerson, Brandon Johnson, A.J. Ronco, Trevor Ronco, Garrett Brown, Lige Moore, Jr. and Shane Todd. Honorary pallbearers were Emanuel Medical Nursing Home staff.

Judy was born October 7, 1947, in Hagan, to the late H. C. “Babe” Todd and Melba Fudge Todd. She received her education at Claxton School System and worked in the textile industry. Judy’s greatest joy was visiting with family, friends and especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She and James spent many Saturday evenings dancing the night away wherever they could find a band playing. Granny, the name she was called by her grandchildren and great grands, lived a simple life sharing her greatest gift of love with each one of them. After her grandchildren were born, Judy spent many days and hours caring for them while her children worked. Mrs. Johns is preceded in death by her parents; brother, Benny Todd; sister, Sybil Lanier; and grandson, Joseph Allen Amerson, Jr.

Mrs. Johns is survived by her companion, James Brown of Twin City; son, Curtis DeLoach (Amanda) of Nevils; daughters, Donna Godowns (Jack) of Louisville and Becky Amerson (Allen) of Swainsboro; grandchildren, Chelsea Godowns Salter (Phillip), Joey Amerson (Sierra), Marshall Amerson, Jessica Kilburn (Doug), Brandon Johnson (Melissa), Paige Hood Moore (Lige), A.J. Ronco (Kimmy), Trevor Ronco, Shana Brown (Brendon), Garrett Brown (Emily); 16 great-grandchildren; brother, Jimmy Todd (Peggy) of Hagan; special friends; Dot Kirby and Chuck Wofford; several nieces, nephews and many friends.

The family would like to give special thanks to their extended family, Emanuel Medical Nursing Home staff and hospice staff for their love, support and excellent care.

In lieu of flowers, we ask that donations be made to: The Lazarus Project, P.O. Box 794, Swainsboro, GA 30401. With concerns about the unknown situation regarding SNAP as we approach Thanksgiving and Christmas, we hope that, through this effort, other families will be able to enjoy these upcoming holidays.

Chapman Funeral Home of Swainsboro was in charge of arrangements.
