Elizabeth was born March 13, 1934, in Swainsboro, to the late Spencer N. Beasley, Sr. and Mary McNeely Beasley. She resided in Swainsboro until 1971, moving to Springfield for 22 years before returning to Swainsboro. In 1997, Elizabeth married James Smith and Statesboro became her new hometown. Elizabeth then worked for 28 years as a consultant with Home Interiors where she excelled in sales and in 1990 became “Miss Georgia” for having the highest sales in the state. After retiring, she spent two years at Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home in Statesboro helping with visitations and funeral services.

Elizabeth loved dancing and in her earlier days spent countless hours dancing with her husband, Jim. Family was her first priority, and she hosted the Beasley Family Reunions for many years. Elizabeth took great pride in her yard, tending to her flowers. She was a member of Beth Missionary Baptist Church. Mrs. Smith is preceded in death by her parents; husband and love of her life, Jim Screws; sister, Mamie Clyde Beasley; brothers, Spencer N. Beasley, Jr. and Billy Beasley; sister, Lucy Giles; granddaughter, Priscilla Riner Hooks; great-granddaughter, Taylor Nicole Hooks.
