Mrs. Marie Marsh Brown, age 66, of Midville, passed away Thursday, December 11, 2025, at WellStar in Augusta. Funeral services were held Saturday, December 13, at 2 p.m. at Peebles Curry Memorial Chapel with Reverend Mark Hardin officiating. Interment followed in the Swainsboro City Cemetery. Family received friends two hours prior to service.

Pallbearers were Anthony Douglas, Eric Douglas, Dakota Marsh, Blaze Chance, Mike Chance and Tracy Waters. Honorary pallbearers were Bennett Chance, John Luke Marsh and Jax Marsh.

Marie was born March 16, 1959, in Swainsboro, the sixth of seven children, to the late Louis Marsh and Annie Akridge Marsh. She graduated from Swainsboro High School in 1977 and continued her education at Swainsboro Technical College, earning a degree in Cosmetology. Marie worked as a cosmetologist for more than 40 years and built lasting friendships with many of her clients. Her clients would go for their appointment and stay for hours after they were finished, just talking and laughing with her. Marie loved her family dearly and continued the tradition of large family gatherings after her mother passed away. She enjoyed seeing everyone together and eating the delicious meals she prepared – with so many of those items being what she had worked tirelessly putting in the freezer. Marie always made any get-together memorable with lots of laughs and great conversations. Her passing leaves a huge hole in her family’s hearts because of how big she loved them all. Marie enjoyed spending countless hours designing beautiful wreaths, flower arrangements and Christmas decorations. She would use this talent to make her two nieces’ and a great niece’s homes look like a Christmas Wonderland. Marie loved seeing their amazement at her work. Those who were blessed to be a recipient of one of these beauties will truly treasure them because you knew her designs were from her heart. Marie was a fun-loving person who could always make you laugh. She will be missed greatly by many. Mrs. Brown is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Donnie Brown, Sr.; sisters, Joyce McIntee and Erlene Rowland; and brothers Melvin Marsh and Phil Marsh.

Survivors include her son, Phillip Marsh of Waynesboro; nieces (two special meeeaan girls), Sherri Chance (Mike) and Melba Waters (Tracy); special niece, Melva Marsh; special nephews, Dakota Marsh (Amy), Anthony Douglas (Missy), Eric Douglas and Blaze Chance (Breanna); sisters, Shelby Hutcheson of Norristown and Gail Williamson of Swainsboro; dear friend, Renee Castro; several other nieces, nephews, family members and many friends.

Durden-Hudson Funeral Directors was in charge of arrangements.
