Robert Louis Stephens, age 86, was granted eternal rest and peace on Monday, December 8, 2025, at his residence. A Celebration of Life was held Saturday, December 20, at 11 a.m. at Piney Grove Missionary Baptist Church with Pastor Michael Thomas officiating and Rev. Bennie Brinson presiding.
Robert was born March 4, 1939, in Emanuel County, to the late James and Ida Dickerson Stephens. He met and married the love of his life, Mildred Cobb, on May 1, 1962. They were the parents of three children and proud grandparents of four grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Robert was a former employee of Emanuel County Hospital, Fulghum Industries and Thermo King, and served as Honorary Sheriff of Emanuel County. He enjoyed spending time with his family, woodworking, barbering, preaching and ministering. Robert had a giving heart and would assist anyone in need. Rev. Stephens is preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Arlene Stephens; two brothers; and two sisters.
Rev. Stephens leaves to cherish his memories with his loving wife; son, Robert Stephens, Jr.; daughter, Mattie Renee’ (Allen) Johnson; two sisters-in-law; four grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; other family members, church family and friends.
