Board members of the Emanuel County Family Connection Collaborative volunteered to help third, fourth, and fifth graders at Swainsboro Elementary School who had earned special activities based upon school participation. Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports or PBIS is a nationally recognized program which encourages and reinforces good behavior throughout the school year. Students who had exhibited positive behavior were given a variety of activities from which to choose. Family Connection assisted those who chose to decorate Christmas cookies. Students arrived in groups throughout the day reporting to the lunchroom where they were instructed in the techniques of flooding cookies and adding their own special touches. Students used the icing bullets and sprinkles to decorate their cookies and then eat them. This was a heartwarming experience for board members Pam Carr, Petite Garrett, Matt Jarrell and Candy Powers, and Family Connection coordinator Tammy Allen.
