East Georgia State College and Georgia Southern University will merge effective January 1, 2026. EGSC and its campuses will be known as the Georgia Southern University – East Georgia campuses, led by President Kyle Marrero.
On Monday morning, December 29, 2025, officers were sworn in by Chief Drawdy. Deputy Chief Dave Wright, Sgt. Ken Lewis, Ofc. Austin Newton and Ofc. Jim Mitchell will continue to serve in Swainsboro. Dave Wright was promoted to Deputy Chief of the Swainsboro campus.
