The Veterans at the Library held their weekly meeting at the Library Monday morning, January 5, 2026, at 9 a.m. With Chair Johnny Tapley presiding, they had 50 in attendance. Stephanie Riner, owner of ‘The Diner’ on North Main Street, furnished S O S (old military favorite), eggs and fruit. Shari Watt provided the orange juice, cranberry juice, grape juice, apple juice and coffee. Chair Johnny introduced Erin Stanford, senior at Emanuel County institute, who is a member of the JROTC. Erin talked about “Operation Digital Heroes”. Darry Brown also talked about filing military claims with the VA. On Saturday, January 10, at 10 a.m., they will pick up all the veterans’ wreaths at Swainsboro City Cemetery and stack them under the shelter at the cemetery. Chair Johnny also talked about the upcoming 3rd annual Veterans Cup Golf Tournament to be held in April, and they will be looking for hole sponsors for this year’s tournament.
